Letter to District 12: Week of 11/30

Friends,

I am inspired by those who dedicate themselves to selfless acts of service. As we close out the Thanksgiving weekend, I’d like to share some stories of selflessness and how they contribute to the strengthening of our community.

On Thanksgiving, our team served the residents of the Central YMCA. We opened with a beautiful prayer, shared a dignified meal, and witnessed a community brought together. Halfway through a tray of stuffing, I was tapped on the shoulder by a good friend. Turns out that my friend has not only been doing this for years, but paid for the event. I had no idea! What mattered to them was not the recognition, but that they lifted those in need.

I am also inspired by the people of Yorklyn. They are fighting to preserve their historic community from overdevelopment. They are also fighting to preserve a natural aquifer that provides fresh drinking water to our District. Though the outcome of this fight affects all of us, very few will ever know their names. They don’t seek political points or fanfare – they just want to preserve the natural beauty of our home.

During this campaign, I have met countless other people with similar stories of selfless service. Some service is flashy and hard to hide, and some service never leaves your kitchen table. It all matters. We pick a lane, we pick our speed, and we do something. And together, we are strong.

I would love to hear more about what you are fighting for. I encourage you to reach out with a phone call, come to a coffee talk, or post on our social media. One of my roles as your Representative will be to use the government to help you see it through. Let’s get your work done together.

Until next time,

Dr. Rob Bahnsen

Candidate for State Representative, District 12
